Advanced Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (A-PHEC) Refresher Course

This 4-6 hour course is designed for those with advanced pre-hospital emergency care certification. Emphasis on this course is the development of advanced emergency care skills that maybe required to deal with a variety of emergencies in any setting with an emphasis on remote environments. 

Topics include managing medical emergencies and injuries. This includes advanced resuscitation (NZRC Level 4) and use of advanced emergency care to manage common medical emergencies such as choking, cardiac arrest & AEDs, stroke, heart attack, seizures, respiratory problems, downing & dive emergencies. Topics also include management of injuries such as fractures, life threatening bleeding, chest injuries, head & spinal injuries and use of methoxyflurane and other oral analgesia. 

While the course has an adult focus, paediatric resuscitation is also covered.

Instruction is provided by experienced accredited facilitators with extensive experience as paramedics, emergency nurses or emergency doctors using a case-based curriculum with a strong focus on practical skills and team work.
